Dedicated or shared merchandising teams?
The right field model starts with the work required in each store, not with a headcount target. Dedicated and shared merchandising can serve different commercial priorities.
When a dedicated team fits
A dedicated team concentrates on one client’s products and priorities. Consider this model when tasks are extensive, visit frequency is high, training is brand-specific, or store relationships require consistent ownership.
When a shared model fits
A shared model can suit a defined set of tasks across a broader store universe. The proposal should make time allocation, visit frequency, reporting requirements, and supervisor responsibilities clear.
Compare the complete operating model
Ask how routes are planned, how absence is covered, what evidence accompanies a visit, and who follows up on exceptions. Compare the required execution with the resources offered; headcount alone does not describe coverage.
Use a pilot to decide
Agree stores, tasks, KPI definitions, and reporting before the pilot. Review the evidence and workload before choosing how to scale across Georgia.
